The EU investment stocks in Ukraine have amounted to €7.7 billion, in 2005. From 2004 to 2005, FDI outward stocks from EU 27 countries grew by more than 400% in Ukraine. Ukraine’s economic share in services accounted for 60,5% of the national GDP.
The negotiations for a free trade agreement between Ukraine and the European Union were launched in March 2007, and are foreseen to be concluded soon.
The smooth progress of these negotiations is a result of the already existing EU-Ukrainian Generalised System of Preferences as well as Ukraine’s WTO accession in 2008. Three rounds of negotiations are scheduled for the second half of 2009.
