Mexico belongs to one of the most important trading partners of the European Union. The EU’s imports from Mexico amounted to €2.7 billion, in 2007, whereas exports to Mexico were worth €4.1 billion in 2007. To Mexico, the EU is the second biggest export market behind the USA. (SERVICES?!)

The Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Mexico entered into force in October 2000. Besides provisions on trade in goods and services, it also contains specific chapters on access to public procurement markets, competition, intellectual property rights and investment.

The EU and Mexico have further cooperated very closely in WTO Doha Round negotiations. Mexico also concluded a Free Trade Agreement with the USA and Canada which is commonly known as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). (SERVICES!)
